Welfare Fund Manager

Job Summary:
Large New York metropolitan area-based Welfare Fund seeks a Fund Manager. This position reports to the Director of Welfare, the individual will provide support in the daily administration of the Funds that will include, but is not limited to preparing and generating Trustees reports, managing and ensuring compliance with plan requirements, and interacting and collaborating with external vendors, consultants, plan professionals and other contributors.
The individual will also assist in the day-to-day leadership and supervision of the Member Services Team. The qualified candidate should have experience with self-insured plans, working with third party vendors, ASO arrangements and HIPAA, Medicare Part D and related government regulations. A background with electronic data management systems and design is beneficial.
Basic Functions:
- Work with the Director, to assist in all aspects of Fund Administration
- Prepare reports for all Board of Trustees meetings
- Support the Director in recording and reporting ongoing trends, utilization and costs across all Funds
- Gather and provide requested information (data, files, records) to Fund auditors as needed
- Ensure appropriate and ongoing communications with external vendors (attorneys, auditors, consultants, etc.), key stakeholders
- Assist in the day-to-day supervision of Member Services department
Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, dealing with members, retirees, staff, trustees and plan professionals. Ability to multitask between the activities of several plans. Additional key qualifications include:
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience required (2 years work experience is equivalent to 1 year of college)
- Minimum 5-7 years demonstrated experience in a benefits plan environment. Experience with labor unions or multiemployer fund operations preferred.
- Experience managing and supervising staff.
- Strong organizational and project management skills required.
- Technical - computer skills, Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- GBA or CEBS certification is a plus.
