Job Description:
Large NY metropolitan area based union and benefit funds are seeking a Controller. Qualified candidates should have significant accounting and reporting experience and managing an Accounting Department of 10 employees. Experience with labor unions and employee benefits preferred. Position requires in-person interaction with office staff with future hybrid possibilities.
Basic Function:
- Supervise and manage daily operation of the Union and related benefit funds.
Must have in-depth knowledge of laws and or procedures related to the following areas of responsibility:
- Daily maintenance of all accounting transactions
- Communications with all vendors (investment managers, auditors, attorneys)
- Prepare financial reports for all Boards of Trustees and Committee meetings
- HR functions involved with managing accounting department and personnel
- Technical - computer skills, Microsoft Office Word and Excel, general ledger
- Interpersonal skills, public speaking, strong written and oral communication skills a must
- Education – Bachelor’s degree (required), CPA preference
