Job Posting

Bilingual Absence and Disability Specialist

CEBS Requirement: Preferred

Brantford, ON

Job description
Oak House Benefits believes in redefining corporate culture by continuing to invest in people over profits. We're proud of our one-of-a-kind workplace, where our team's individuality, passion, authenticity, and creativity come together to create incredible client solutions.

Fun fact: 85% of the OHB team has worked together before. That's not a coincidence; it's solid proof that an authentic culture of caring at work will always bring the right people together. Our OHB family is expanding as we launch our latest custom solution: LEAF - Logical, Engaging, Accessible, and Flexible absence and disability management services.

We're on the lookout for our next great addition: a Bilingual Absence and Disability Specialist.

What the Role is:

As the Bilingual Absence and Disability Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in our mission to make absence management a bit LEAF-ier. You'll work closely with the Practice Lead, Absence & Disability Solutions, to develop comprehensive and tailor-made absence management solutions that seamlessly fit our clients' distinct organizational structures, cultures, and employee dynamics.

Your ability to be a Case Manager and tackle the curveballs of the absence management world - STD/LTD claims, medical leaves of absence, non-medical leaves, workplace accommodations, and attendance programs, etc. – is one of your biggest talents. With your expertise, you’ll be asked to “go beyond the claim” and act as a strategic advisor, guiding HR departments, managers, and employees through absences and accommodations, while creating a culture of trust and transparency.

What the Role isn't:

This is no cookie-cutter, out-of-the-box job. Our team is an all-hands-on-deck crew looking for an adaptable, flexible, creative subject matter expert (and client-service powerhouse) ready and willing to roll up their sleeves to support all aspects of the absence management practice. The best part is that LEAF is constantly growing and adapting, and as a Senior member of our team, you'll be right there, shaping and enhancing your role as we continue to grow.

We know this is a bit of a unicorn role, and all sorts of "job experts" think they're impossible to fill. OHB was built on the belief that "If you build it, they will come", and we believe our unicorn is out there!

What You Bring:

  • Fluently French/English bilingual (written and spoken)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the absence and disability management industry, preferably with STD claims management experience,
  • A strong understanding of ESA legislation, WSIB/WCB/CNESST, human rights legislation, labour relations and collective bargaining, within the context of absence and disability,
  • A university degree, preferably within the Health Sciences,
  • Exceptional decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Prior experience as a Disability Case Manager,
  • Proven ability to collaborate and develop client-focused solutions,
  • Demonstrated success in client retention and program optimization.

The Fine Print:
OHB is located in Brantford, ON; this role is offered as remote work, with the understanding that you would be welcome on-site, too! We are a hybrid company because we love to reconnect in person.

The Salary Range:
The annual salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 based on experience and skills.

The Perks

  • An epic work/life balance commitment from OHB (including a generous vacation policy!)
  • Employer-paid benefits (including Health, Dental, CI, EFAP, HCSA, and other industry acronyms)
  • RRSP matching
  • And the absolute "feel-goodedness" (we made it up, that's alright) you'll get from working with a team that really cares about you, each other, and our clients.

Employment Type

  • Full-time
  • Remote
