Join Our Team as a Benefits Specialist!
The Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is seeking a motivated, detail oriented, and service driven Benefits Specialist to support about 400 active employees and 200 retirees. You’ll be the go to expert for all things benefits, from onboarding and counseling, to open enrollment and retirement processing, helping create a positive employee experience every step of the way.
Main Responsibilities:
- Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSAs, and retirement benefits
- Support LOA, FMLA, workers’ comp, COBRA, and ACA compliance
- Counsel employees/retirees on benefits options and changes
- Maintain HRIS records, process invoices, and manage vendor relationships
- Lead benefits onboarding, offboarding, and annual open enrollment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years benefits experience (public sector/MD State Retirement a plus)
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- HR/benefits certifications and bilingual skills are a plus
