Who we are:
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 150 is a well-established labor union based in Libertyville, IL. We represent approximately 1,000 electricians throughout our area. As a leader in the labor movement, we are dedicated to improving industry standards and member welfare.

Summary of functions performed by the Benefit Coordinator:
The Board of Trustees of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 150 Benefit Funds – including the Welfare Fund, the Defined Benefit Pension Fund, the Defined Contribution Pension Fund, and the Vacation Fund – is seeking a full-time Benefit Coordinator to work as a liaison between the Fund Administrator and the over 900 active members, over 500 retirees, and over 150 contributing employers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain expert level knowledge of policies and plan details.
  • Provide strategic oversight and administration of employee benefit programs, including medical plans, HRA, COBRA, retirement plans, and vacation savings plan.
  • Lead and oversee member benefit operations such as new enrollments, communications, audits, SPDs, reporting, and disclosures.
  • Manage data and policy updates across multiple internal systems.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, ERISA, ACA reporting requirements and other state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare reports and updates for the Fund Administrator and Board of Trustees upon request.
  • Provide exceptional service via phone, email, and mail, answering questions and assisting members with enrollment, coverage, and billing inquiries.
  • Promote collaboration across departments, resolve conflicts constructively, and support a positive workplace culture.

Skills & Abilities:

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements.

  • This role is best suited for someone who works well independently, is resourceful in problem solving, and takes initiative without close supervision.
  • 5-7 years of experience in employee benefit plan operations and an understanding of Taft-Hartly funds is preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract and collective bargaining agreement language and ability to interpret CBA language and terms.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with staff, management, employers, and other local unions.
  • Meticulous with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, set priorities and work in a challenging environment.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as various other benefit systems.

Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary, paid time off, paid holidays, an exceptional benefits package including medical, HRA, Rx, vision, dental, life insurance, disability coverage, EAP, multiple retirement benefits, and a vacation savings account.

Total annual compensation = $80,000 - $95,000

This position requires you to work on-site Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at our office in Libertyville, IL. Candidates must be able to commute daily or arrange reliable transportation.
