ERISA Advisory Council Meeting Scheduled for July 17-19; Statements Due July 10

The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) has announced the 216th meeting of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans (ERISA Advisory Council) to be held in-person and via teleconference on July 17-19, 2023. The three-day meeting will take place at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20210 in Room C5320.
On Monday, July 17, 2023, the meeting will be 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (EST)
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (EST)
On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (EST)
The meeting will also be accessible via teleconference. Instructions for public teleconference access will be available on the ERISA Advisory Council’s web page approximately one week prior to the meeting.
On July 17 and July 19, the purpose of the open meeting is for Advisory Council members to hear testimony from invited witnesses on the following topics:
- Long-Term Disability Benefits and Mental Health Disparity, and
- Recordkeeping in the Electronic Age
On July 18, the purpose of the open meeting is for the Department of Labor to consult with the Advisory Council on section 2509.95–1 of title 29, Code of Federal Regulations (relating to the fiduciary standards under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974
when selecting an annuity provider for a defined benefit pension plan), as required by Section 321 of the SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022, signed into law on December 29, 2022, as Division T of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, H.R. 2617, as amended.
